2nd May 2026, Aylesford Priory
On another reccy for new locations. This time to Aylesford. I have used Aylesford for locations before but decided to have a really good look round this time. I found the Priory. Aylesford Priory (The Friars) is a historic 13th-century Carmelite monastery sitting on the River Medway in Kent. AFter a bit of research i found it was founded in 1242 as the order's first European motherhouse. It’s had a history it was seized by Henry VIII in 1538 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries but was successfully bought back and restored by the Carmelites in 1949. it now operates as a peaceful, working religious sanctuary and free-to-visit attraction, featuring original medieval ragstone architecture, mid-century ceramic artwork by Adam Kossowski, and tranquil riverside grounds.
